Like a long lost friend, WEMF returns this summer to once again spread the love! We are pleased to announce the return of the World Electronic Music Festival on the weekend on Aug 12-14, 2011. While the name remains the same, almost everything else has be updated, upgraded and sophisticated. Expect bigger and better talent from even more electronic genres, a much bigger emphasis on art and culture and greater community involvement. Like a phoenix from the ashes, the new WEMF emerges to be much more than it was before but without forgetting from whence it came.

Promoters for the World Electronic Music Festival (WEMF)–Canada’s premier three day electronic music experience has unveiled initial details of its highly anticipated line-up for the festival’s 15th annual installment. Set for Friday, August 12 to Sunday August 14 in the picturesque hills of Southern Ontario, WEMF2011 will once again be the largest event of its kind.

RUSKO
WEMF is proud to headline this year’s festival with one of the biggest names in electronic music today. While known for his dominance of dubstep, his sound now appeals to many people outside this world as his productions have became more adventurous in formula, sound and energy. His huge hit “Cockney Thug” has been played by everyone from Pete Tong, Switch, Diplo and Santogold. It has been remixed by Buraka Som sistema, Diplo, Drop the Lime and the Scratch Perverts. Rusko is now part of the Mad Decent Camp with collaborations on the horizon with the likes of Switch, Diplo , Santigold, Trouble Andrew, Hot Chip and more. Currently setting the radio airwaves alight with his own productions and remixes of artists such as The Prodigy, Basement Jaxx, Little Boots and plenty more, Rusko is only going in one direction. Onwards, upwards and far beyond any other young producer could dream of.

SKRILLEX
SKRILLEX is part of a new generation of artists that refuse to be restricted by preconceived notions or outside expectations. “Genre has never been important to me,” he insists. “I’ve never thought about music that way.” Describing his current sound as “a mix of dubstep, electro and glitch all thrown together,” new SKRILLEX release “SCARY MONSTERS AND NICE SPRITES” reflects all of the above and beyond. His live shows are renowned for their energy and intensity. Something that truly needs to be experienced at WEMF2011.

INFECTED MUSHROOM
Psy-Trance innovators Infected Mushroom have become one of the biggest electronic bands on the planet and we are very happy to have them headline WEMF2011. Twice ranked top 10 artists by the bible of the scene, the U.K.’s DJ Magazine, the Israel-bred, L.A. based duo bring a frenetic rock energy to the form. Their explosive show, featuring guitars, live drums, intensely passionate vocals and an ambitious multimedia backdrop, ranks among the genre’s most unpredictably joyous events. And their recordings continually venture where other electronic acts fear to tread.

ANDY C
Its truly an honour to have the artist who was recently crowned Best DJ in the world at the Drum&Bass Arena awards for an amazing 6th year in a row. As the past WEMF crowds can attest, his sets are the highlight of the weekend! Amongst a host of other accolades, Andy C is one of the most revered, successful drum & bass DJ’s of all time. Relentless as a DJ, travelling the globe week in, week out as well as releasing the highly acclaimed Nightlife series, he is also an accomplished producer. The highest ranking Drum n Bass DJ in djmag’s global top 100 list, there is a reason why he is known as the Executioner.

NOISIA
NOISIA (who took their name from the word ‘VISION’ inverted on an upside down VHS tape) are Nik Roos, Thijs de Vlieger and Martijn van Sonderen, hailing from the Netherlands. Influenced by an eclectic range of artists, from The Prodigy to James Brown, Miles Davis to Konflict, Noisia make music for DJs and dance-floors that is interesting enough to cross over from the clubs to your MP3 player. With countless awards from best drum & bass act to best producers, to remix duties for the likes of Katy Perry and Skrillex, NOISIA are a force to be reckoned with. WEMF2011 will see the North American debut of the very special stage show featuring all three artists mixing a combination of original tunes and live music.
